What Collapse?
Human society has overstepped its mark. Greed, apathy and stupidity are threatening our social and ecological systems, while stockpiles of nuclear and biological weapons stand ready to kill millions at a moment's notice. Even our very economic system is designed to go through boom bust cycles creating untold hardship for millions on the down cycle.
There are many factors threatening modern human society with collapse. These range from global warming, to economic failure, to the loss of fertility in our farm land, to peak oil, to increasing levels of inequity. There is no question that unless we take serious action soon we will experience increasing collapse scenarios around the globe.
Which collapse to prepare for?
People often have one or two collapses in mind when they prep. However preppers can cover more than one prepping scenario with a little more effort and some expanded preps. To help preppers understand the type of event they are preparing for I have developed a collapse index that breaks down collapse events into similar categories.
The collapse index is fully discussed in my blog post but I will discuss the index shortly here.
The index divides collapse into five basic categories starting with regional collapse and ending with global apocalypse.
